SKU: CNC-SC-X1
The Sipexa Core X1 is a premium CNC router designed for workshops, engineers, makers and businesses looking for a reliable and configurable machining platform.
Featuring C5-grade precision ballscrews, HGR15 profile linear guides, an independent dual-motor Y-axis drive and advanced Duet 3 motion control, the Core X1 is engineered around carefully selected mechanical and electronic components.
With a working area of 685 × 785 mm, the machine offers a versatile machining platform suitable for a wide range of workshop applications.
Unlike conventional CNC kits that require extensive assembly and mechanical adjustment, every Sipexa Core X1 is professionally assembled, tested and calibrated before dispatch.
We take care of the mechanical assembly and initial machine configuration, allowing you to concentrate on your projects rather than spending days building and aligning a CNC machine.
Every Sipexa Core X1 undergoes an individual inspection and testing process before leaving our workshop.
Our preparation process includes:
Mechanical assembly and inspection.
Ballscrew and linear rail alignment.
Gantry squareness checks.
Stepper motor direction and movement verification.
Homing and limit switch testing.
Motion system calibration.
General operational testing.
Each machine is checked individually rather than simply being supplied as a collection of components.
The Core X1 is supplied substantially pre-assembled, with the machine divided into a maximum of three main sections where necessary for transportation.
This approach reduces the amount of mechanical work required during installation.
Depending on the delivery configuration, some electrical connections, particularly motor connections between the sections, may need to be reconnected by the customer.
The Core X1 uses C5-grade precision ballscrews throughout its motion system.
X-axis: SFU1605 C5 ballscrew.
Y-axis: Dual SFU1605 C5 precision ballscrews (Y1 and Y2), providing independent drive on both sides of the gantry..
Z-axis: SFU1204 C5 ballscrew.
Featuring C5-grade ballscrews, our CNC system benefits from tighter manufacturing tolerances and higher positioning accuracy compared with standard C7-grade ballscrews. This provides a more precise and consistent mechanical foundation for controlled, repeatable CNC movements.
The use of dedicated ballscrew sizes across the machine provides a motion architecture selected specifically for each axis.
All axes utilise HGR15 profile linear guides with a dual-rail arrangement and four carriage blocks per axis.
The profile rail system provides stable mechanical support, helping resist unwanted movement and maintain rigidity during machining operations.
Combined with the precision ballscrew drive, this provides a robust motion platform for demanding workshop applications.
The Y-axis uses two independent NEMA 23 stepper motors, driving opposite sides of the gantry.
This configuration provides synchronised movement across both sides of the machine and helps maintain gantry alignment.
The motor system consists of four NEMA 23 stepper motors, each controlled by a dedicated DM542T stepper driver.
X and Y motors rated at 2.4 Nm holding torque.
Z motor rated at 2.0 Nm holding torque.
Four dedicated DM542T stepper drivers.
At the heart of the Sipexa Core X1 is the Duet 3 Mainboard 6XD, an advanced 32-bit motion controller powered by a 300 MHz ARM Cortex-M7 processor. Designed for machines requiring external stepper drivers and flexible motion control, it provides the processing capability and configuration flexibility needed to manage the Core X1's multi-axis architecture, including its independently driven dual-Y-axis system.
Unlike traditional CNC controllers that rely on a permanently connected computer, the Duet 3 provides an integrated Ethernet connection and browser-based control interface. This allows you to manage your CNC machine directly through a web browser without requiring a dedicated PC to remain connected during operation.
Connect the controller to your local network using an Ethernet cable and access its control interface directly from a web browser. Once connected, you can manage your machine from a desktop computer, laptop or other compatible device on the same network.
The browser interface provides convenient access to machine controls, allowing you to:
Upload G-code files directly to the controller.
Start, pause and manage machining jobs.
Monitor machine status and axis positions.
Control axis movement and perform manual jogging.
Execute homing routines and other machine operations.
Access the G-code console for direct commands.
Manage machine configuration and control files.
The Core X1 does not require a permanently connected computer to execute machining jobs.
G-code files can be uploaded to the controller's onboard storage and executed directly by the Duet 3. Once a job has been started, the controller manages the machining process independently. Your computer can be switched off, disconnected or used for other tasks without interrupting an active machining job.
This provides a cleaner workshop setup, eliminates the need to dedicate a computer to machine operation and gives you greater flexibility when organising your workspace.
The Duet 3 runs RepRapFirmware, providing an extensive and highly configurable G-code environment.
The controller supports user-defined macros, allowing frequently performed operations to be organised into convenient, reusable routines accessible through the browser interface.
You can use existing helper macros, modify their G-code commands or create entirely new ones to suit your workflow. This makes it possible to customise machine operations and automate repetitive tasks such as:
Machine homing and preparation routines.
Axis positioning and parking sequences.
Tool-change procedures.
Spindle start and stop commands.
Custom machine setup and maintenance routines.
Other repetitive operations specific to your machining workflow.
Rather than being restricted to a fixed set of factory-defined functions, the control system offers flexibility to adapt its operation as your requirements evolve.
The Duet 3 Mainboard 6XD supports up to six external stepper or servo motor drivers through dedicated step, direction and enable interfaces. This provides flexibility for the Core X1's dual-drive motion system and leaves scope for additional control requirements.
Combined with RepRapFirmware, Ethernet connectivity and extensive configuration capabilities, it provides a powerful and adaptable control platform for precision CNC machining.
The electronics are housed in a dedicated controller enclosure, keeping the machine's control equipment organised and accessible.
The controller enclosure includes a physical emergency stop button for quickly stopping machine operation when necessary.
Optional physical navigation controls can also be selected, providing convenient access to basic machine navigation and homing functions without relying entirely on a computer interface.
The machine is powered by a 400W, 36V switching power supply.
The Core X1 incorporates CNC-machined 6082 aluminium components, selected for their mechanical strength and suitability for precision engineering applications.
Its aluminium extrusion structure uses a combination of 20 × 80 mm and 20 × 40 mm profiles to form the machine's supporting framework.
Every workshop has different requirements. The Core X1 is therefore available with optional equipment to suit your intended applications.
Air-cooled spindle
A practical spindle solution for customers looking for a straightforward installation without a separate water-cooling circuit.
Water-cooled spindle
An alternative spindle configuration designed for customers who prioritise quieter spindle operation and water cooling.
Compatible spindle clamps are available in 65 mm and 80 mm sizes, depending on the selected spindle.
Spindle and VFD packages are optional and can be configured separately.
Machined aluminium threaded workbed
A robust aluminium workholding surface featuring threaded mounting points, allowing you to install clamps, fixtures and dedicated workholding accessories.
Ideal for customers who regularly machine different materials and require flexible workholding arrangements.
MDF spoilboard
An economical and replaceable work surface suitable for general routing, woodworking and cutting applications.
The MDF surface can be resurfaced when necessary, providing a practical solution for everyday workshop use.
Sipexa Core X1 machines are assembled and individually tested in the UK.
For customers within 60 miles of Milton Keynes (MK2), we offer direct delivery from our workshop, subject to delivery arrangements.
For customers further away, the machine can be supplied using pallet delivery or split-section transportation, depending on the destination and transport requirements.
